Heather Trueman R.Ac, R.TCMP
As a competitive athlete growing up, Heather developed a strong interest in health sciences, sports, and nature. She pursued a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Psychology and a B.Sc. in Biology at Queen’s University. Her love of outdoor activities and neuropsychology drew Heather to western Canada to complete her undergraduate thesis at UBC. While taking post-graduate counselling courses, Heather volunteered with the Victim Services Mobile Unit of the Vancouver Police Department, the Alternate Shelter Society, and the Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Centre.
Through personal and family health issues, Heather discovered the effectiveness of Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Subsequently, the time she spent travelling and living in Asia stimulated her desire to understand Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM )and make it her career. While TCM initially challenged her conventional scientific background, Heather quickly appreciated its unique, holistic and individualized approach in treating pain and a wide-range of internal conditions. Heather is passionate about traditional Chinese medicine and its role in modern healthcare.
Heather completed her Acupuncture Diploma in June 2014 and TCM Practitioner Diploma (Herbology) in 2015 at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She continued studying to deepen her understanding of TCM and completed her diploma for the 5 year Advanced TCM in 2016.
Heather is a member in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO).
