Who We Are
In 2004, Sue Sheedy founded Toronto Bodyworks out of a commitment to a higher standard of bodywork for patients and a more optimal work space for therapists.
As Toronto Bodyworks grew and word of mouth spread, Sue searched for a better space for both patients and her team. In 2014, when the 30 Duncan Street location became available, it was a perfect fit. The process, from the design, to the build, and the move, came together seamlessly; the space was finally home in January 2015.
The same commitment to excellence that began Toronto Bodyworks can still be experienced today; from patient care, to bodywork, and right down to being mindful of purchasing needs for the studio. As part of our commitment to striving for higher quality care from our team, we work with incoming therapists’ hands to round out their skill set and improve individual biomechanics. What the patient may notice is a better, more engaged session; therapists can work more efficiently using less energy, decrease their chance of work injury and hopefully enjoy longevity in their career.
Toronto Bodyworks offers patients a variety of treatment modalities, including registered massage, traditional and medical acupuncture, shiatsu, craniosacral therapy, thai massage and more. We also provide high-quality natural oils for your bodywork therapy session.
Every member of the Toronto Bodyworks team is individually chosen for their exceptional skill set and attention to the needs of their patients. Our Registered Massage Therapists are all members in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and our Acupuncturists are in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario.
We’re always on the lookout for great additions to our team. Contact us directly to introduce yourself.
M. Susan Sheedy R.TCMP, R.Ac, RMT
Director / Founder
Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (Acupuncturist/Chinese Herbologist), Registered Massage Therapist, Shiatsu Therapist, Thai Massage Therapist, CranioSacral Therapist, Aromatherapist, Reflexologist
Sue Sheedy’s extensive background in bodywork includes certification in eight modalities, including western massage, acupuncture, and shiatsu. Sue is one of the longest practicing cosmetic acupuncturists in Toronto and she is also trained in NISA (deep tissue realignment), dynamic posture, Thai massage, aromatherapy, cosmetic acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, kinesiology taping, fertility acupuncture, and infant and child massage.
Sue coaches RMTs on refining their practice for better posture and alignment. In learning to do so therapists learn to better engage in their work providing a deeper more comfortable pressure. This allows the therapist to decrease the risk of injury to themselves thereby prolonging their career with reduced sick/injury time off work.
Sue has spoken at wellness events and has made appearances on Breakfast Television (2005, 2006) and for Slice TV on the series, Plastic Makes Perfect (2007). Her cosmetic acupuncture work has been featured in Vitality Magazine and Beyond Fitness Magazine.
Sue is a member in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture of Ontario (CTCMPAO), the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), and the Registered Massage Therapy Association of Ontario (RMTAO).
Toronto Bodyworks has a convenient location in the heart of Toronto, ON.
The Downtown Studio is located on Duncan Street, close to the Osgoode and St. Andrew TTC subway stations. It’s a beautiful 4000 square foot loft with twelve private therapy rooms. The downtown studio reception area is bright and spacious, with clean lines and big windows. We put extra care into the design and build of our space to create the most natural and appealing environment from top to bottom with our warm spectrum LED lighting, refinished original wood floors and everything in between. Since many of our patients juggle busy schedules, we also usually provide access to showers and changing facilities however during the time of the pandemic the showers are closed.
All are welcome here!
