Ilana graduated from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy at the top of her class and works there as a teaching assistant. Ilana is a provider of contemporary medical / neurofunctional acupuncture as part of her massage therapy practice. She is a graduate of the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program – a curriculum based on current scientific understanding of anatomy, physiology and pain.
Ilana’s approach is to listen to her patients and work with them to try to understand what could be causing or contributing to their discomfort, so they can both agree on the best treatment plan. This includes considering neurological, biomechanical, physiological, social, and emotional factors. Helping her patients feel better may involve a relaxation-based treatment and/or a therapeutic focus on a specific issue such as a sports injury or chronic pain.
Although Ilana treats a variety of patients, she has a particular interest in sports massage and has treated athletes in clinic and at a wide range of events, including the Toronto Marathon, the Invictus Games, and the Masters Indigenous Games. She is a Certification Candidate of the Canadian Sports Massage Therapy Association (CSMTA-CC). Ilana’s interest in sports massage is inspired by her passion for cycling, rock climbing, hiking, ice skating, and kayaking.
She is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and is also a member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario (RMTAO).
